Shelf Live Rock is a large head of table top, or brush Acropora's, that have died, and been encrusted with corallines of many colors. They make excellent platforms on which to place your coral specimens.
When rocking your reef tank, it is acceptable to combine a few different islands rock. You may also alter the sizes and shape of your live rock with a hammer and chisel. This will not damage the integrity of the rock, nor it's inhabitants. Please be careful to wear eye protection if you are chiseling live rock.
You pay only for the weight of the live rock, not the weight of the packaging. Unlike some other online dealers, Aquatic Connection Live does not count the box and all packaging materials as part of the live rock weight ordered. All orders are hand picked , then hand packaged, first wrapped in plastic and paper for cushioning, then we pack all orders in a styro foam container and styro foamies for extra cushioning.
Live Rock is easy to maintain in either a reef or fish only aquarium, and makes an excellent addition for both the beginner or experienced aquarist. Fiji rock requires moderate lighting and moderate water movement, along with the addition of calcium, strontium, iodine, and trace elements.
Important: If your aquarium has no livestock in it, your live rock may be placed directly into your tank. But if your marine aquarium already has fish, coral, or invertebrates in it, then you must do a curing process on your live rock prior to placing into the aquarium. This is easily accomplished using a large garbage can with a small powerhead moving the saltwater around. Place your live rock into the container and leave the live rock with the water flowing around the rock for 10 days. This final cure will assure your live rock is safe to be placed in a marine aquarium which has any fish, coral or inverts.
Our Live Rock is Guaranteed to be hand picked and packaged well!!
